Ford has quietly introduced a new logo, which made its debut with of the refreshed F-150. The all-new badge ditches the chrome look in favor of simple, white accents.
The facelifted F-150 has quietly brought forward the new Blue Oval badge. Positioned in the center of the radiator grille and tailgate, as well as on the steering wheel, it looks simpler and cleaner. The inner silver oval border has vanished, thus allowing the 'Ford' cursive lettering, a version of Henry Ford's own signature handwriting, to show up larger in every direction, filling up the entire space.

The chrome exterior border has been replaced by another one in white. To simplify things in the digital era, just like most carmakers, Ford is making the switch from a three-dimensional to a bi-dimensional badge.

The F-150 stands as the first model in Ford’s lineup to get the new logo. But it most likely will show up on the rest of the models once they get a facelift or a new generation.

The Dearborn carmaker did not mention the new Blue Oval emblem in any of the press materials that revealed the details of the new F-150. But several weeks ago, during a media event that previewed the facelifted pickup truck, Rob Brancheau, Senior Color and Materials Designer at Ford Motor Company, confirmed for Car and Driver that there will be a new logo on the mid-size pickup truck.

The new badge sports a somewhat retro flare, reminiscent of that from almost a century ago. Back in 1927, Ford introduced the blue and white Blue Oval logo. With a double frame made of a thick white line and a thin blue line, it was previewing the logo as we know it today. The current one resembles that from the 1920s the most.

In 1976, Ford gave up the white for the chrome finish, choosing a 3D design and adding some gloss to the blue that turned darker and sported gradient shades.

The emblem, which does not show up on the Raptor version, is far from being the only major thing that Ford has changed about the design of the F-150. The new Blue Oval sits in the center of a revised radiator grille, flanked by redesigned headlights.

At the opposite end, the carmaker came up with restyled taillights. But the most important update back there is the presence of the Pro Access Tailgate, which supports the new logo. It opens sideways at three angles (37, 70, and 100 degrees) for easier access to the interior of the load bed, even when the pickup truck has a trailer attached. This type of sideways opening provides 19 inches of additional reach.

The 2024 Ford F-150 should enter production sometime toward the end of the year. Sales should kick off early next year. The mid-size pickup truck starts at $36,750, with the V8-powered Raptor going beyond the $100,000 mark.
