The Ford Fusion is one of the more interesting non-premium sedans available in the US, and with the addition of a plug-in hybrid version, called the Energi, the Blue Oval may be onto a winner.
Now, the Fusion Energy has been officially rated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and it gets a reported 100 MPGe, on the combined cycle. The figure is the average between the car’s city economy, of 108 MPGe, and the highway economy rating of 92 MPGe.

Ford says that this Fusion is America’s most fuel-efficient sedan, and according to the figures, it is, beating the plug-in hybrid version of the Toyota Prius’ 95 MPGe rating and the Chevy Volt’s 98 MPGe. It is also a much better looking proposition than any of its rivals in the sector, and its looks do not betray its green credentials - an important advantage for some buyers.

Still, the Fusion Energi is still a great way to spend $39,495, and for that you get a very efficient, stylish and technologically advanced sedan, with lots of kit, a large interior, and the front look of an Aston Martin.
