Ford has announced that the new three-cylinder 1.0-liter EcoBoost has finally been made available for order in the new Focus on the European market. Offered in two power levels, 100 hp and 125 hp, effectively replacing the old 1.6-liter normally aspirated engine.
Even more impressive is the fact that the 125 hp version can make up to 200 Nm of peak torque in Overboost, while also providing a fuel economy of 5 L/100km. Soon, these engines will be introduced to the B-MAX subcompact MPV.
“Developing an engine this small and fuel efficient that still delivers good power and driving fun in a Focus-sized car would have seemed impossible just a few years ago,” said Ford of Europe Chairman and CEO Stephen Odell.
