Ford Fiesta Gets New Rearview Mirror Mounted Camera

The British division of Ford announced the Fiesta is now offering an expanded rear mirror view. Specifically, a new reversing camera which is mounted in the rearview mirror. According to the automaker, when the new rearview camera is selected as an option, the customer benefits from a list of additional features, including automatic windscreen wipers, automatic headlamps and rear parking sensors.

The new feature is available now at GBP475 on all UK Fiesta models. Titanium drivers will also benefit from a Sony radio with CD player, USB and Bluetooth as standard, joining existing features such as cruise control and automatic headlights.

In addition to that, a new color, Ink Blue, has been added to all the models in the line-up. So far this year, 20 percent of Fiesta customers have chosen to buy top-of-the-range Titanium models.

"Fiesta has taken the top sales spot for small cars every month since the start of 2009. We know that whilst customers may choose a smaller car than before perhaps for economy reasons, they still want the technology and comfort features to make their Fiesta a premium choice,” Mark Simpson, Ford of Britain marketing director, said in a release.

"Around 75 per cent of Fiesta customers add options to their car; the most popular is Bluetooth with USB," added Simpson.

The European-spec Ford Fiesta is available in a choice of two bodystyles, 3- or 5-door, and offers multiple engine configurations, including a 1.6-liter TDCi and a 1.6-liter gasoline-powered 120 hp unit. All the models in the UK Fiesta range now come with Electronic Stability Program (ESP) in standard (the ESP was previously sold as a 300-pound option).
