Ford Fiesta ECOnetic Coming in July

After announcing about a week ago that the new Focus model will get an ECOnetic version, American manufacturer Ford is getting ready to present the same variant of the Fiesta model during the AutoRAI 2011 show, an auto event which kicks off on April 13 in the Netherlands.

Following the show, the ECOnetic Fiesta will head for the local dealerships, where it will arrive sometime in July. Once there, Ford hopes the new model will generate impressive sales, mostly because of the fuel-saving features built into the model.

This version of the Fiesta uses a 1.6 TDCi engine as a heart, a heart that pumps out 93 hp without breaking a sweat. And also without ruining you, as the unit, thanks to the range of efficiency features built into it, only consumes 3.6 l/100km.

For Ford, ECOnetic means both mechanical changes brought to the engine and styling modifications meant to improve aerodynamics. The most noticeable changes are the addition of the aero package, low rolling resistance tires, a shift indicator and a revised final drive gear ratio, all aimed at reducing fuel consumption.

On the exterior, the Fiesta looks lower that its peers as its chassis has been lowered in order to make the model more aerodynamic. The changes brought to the mechanical parts of the Fiesta include a revision of the pump.

When it becomes available, the Fiesta ECOnetic will sell starting from EUR15.995. The model will be offered in both 3- or 5-door hatchback versions and will be made available in two variants: ECOnetic Trend and Titanium ECOnetic.
