Good news from the Bonneville Salt Flats keep coming these days and we are about to hit you with some more. This time, we’re not talking about one, but two speed records that have been broken. You can blame the Ford F-250 Super Duty pickup truck your uncle uses at the ranch for keeping you busy reading.

The F-250 Super Duty managed to break the record for a B Production Diesel Truck, achieving a top speed of 171.123 mph (275.40 km/h).

At this point, ecologists are probably gathering to prepare for a human chain around the Salt Flats. Wait good people, don’t do it! The truck has also broken the record for a B20 (20 percent BIO diesel) vehicle. The old record, which stood at 130.614 mph (210.20 km/h), was beaten by a hefty margin, as the F-250 Super Duty managed to hit 182 mph (292.90 km/h).

Well, the truck isn’t exactly stock, but the team that tweaked it for the feat, Hajek Motorsports, claims that it didn’t need too many modifications.

The vehicle is powered by a 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 diesel, which has received modifications to the high-pressure fuel pump, fuel injectors and turbochargers for more fuel flow, as well as having its compression ration modified. The unit delivers 400hp and a maximum torque of 800 lb-ft (1,083 Nm).

As you can see in the adjacent images, the trucks has also received certain aerodynamic tweaks, such as special wheels and an exterior rear view mirror removal.
