While the first test mules of the upcoming Ford Ranger-based SUV were caught winter testing in Europe as early as February, our carparazzi managed to spot the heavily anticipated model in production ready guise.
Underneath the thin layer of black and white camouflage lies what's believed to be the Blue Oval's upcoming mid-size SUV, which will bear the Everest moniker.

Even though it shares quite a bit of hardware with the next-generation Ranger pickup truck, the Everest our spy photographers spotted clearly ditches its brother's leaf spring suspension in favor a coil-sprung live setup at the rear for added passenger comfort and road holding.

The seven-seater Everest clearly borrows a few aesthetic cues from its more utilitarian sibling as far as the front fascia, profile and rear are concerned. You can bet that it will also bear the trapezoidal front grille and strong rough-and-ready lines of the concept presented a few months ago at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show.

A certain fact is that the Everest is developed as a global vehicle, which means it will be pretty much the same car whether you will buy it in Europe, Asia, America or Australia. Due to the fact that it will be sold in Australia and New Zealand, a right-hand drive version is also in the pipeline.

A number of reports hint that the Chinese market will be the first to receive the all-new Ford Everest, followed shortly by Australia and New Zealand. It has been confirmed that in China, the Mk III Ranger will be manufactured by Ford's JMC joint venture and will sport a starting price in the vicinity of ¥250k (roughly $40,000).

It's believed that the engine lineup will include an entry-level naturally aspirated gasoline V6, a turbocharged EcoBoost four-pot for added punch, as well as a four or five cylinder turbocharged oil burner for extra frugality and torque. The production ready Ford Everest will break cover by the end of 2014 and go on sale in May 2015.
