The Hoonigan crew is back with a thoroughly interesting pair of go-faster machines. The contenders are Ferrari's ridiculously capable SF90 Stradale and Lamborghini's aging Huracan, although only the Fezza is completely stock. Regarding the V10-powered challenger, the Huracan in the video below allegedly makes 1,380 force-fed ponies.
How, though? Originally rated at 610 ps and 560 Nm (602 hp and 413 lb-ft) by the Raging Bull of Sant'Agata Bolognese, this fellow boasts a twin-turbo setup and – according to its owner – a stock motor. The powertrain control unit was replaced with a MoTeC-supplied electronic brain for obvious reasons, and the dual-clutch tranny was beefed up to handle that screaming V10's immense torque.

Owned by Freddy LSX, the heavily modified 2015 model year Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 further sweetens the deal with 18-inch beadlock wheels and street-legal drag radials at every corner. It's a tremendous build, and as opposed to the Prancing Horse, it's quite a bit lighter as well. More specifically, it weighs in the ballpark of 3,600 pounds (1,633 kilograms) compared to 3,800 (1,724).

Why is the Fezza this heavy? Revealed in 2019, the SF90 opened a new chapter in the Italian automaker's history. The name of the game is plug-in hybrid, namely three electric drive units and a 7.9-kWh battery pack. The oily bits comprise a twin-turbocharged V8 and a Magna-supplied transmission without reverse gear because reversing is the duty of two electric motors. Those two are located up front, making the SF90 an all-wheel-drive thriller.

Hoonigan claims 800 and 200 horsepower for a grand total of 1,000 electrified ponies, but Ferrari begs to differ: 780 ps for the internal combustion engine and 220 ps for the electric motors, which means 1,000 ps or 986 mechanical horsepower at full chatter. This particular example of the breed is optioned with the so-called Assetto Fiorano, a package that brings motorsport-derived Multimatic dampers, titanium springs, a titanium exhaust, lots of carbon fiber, and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 performance tires.

In addition to better handling and weight savings of approximately 30 kilograms (66 pounds), Assetto Fiorano means a little more downforce than stock for superior on-track performance. This being the Santa Margarita Ranch airstrip, downforce is exactly what you don't want in a straight-line showdown.

Be that as it may, the Ferrari manages to assert dominance over the Lamborghini over 1,000 feet (305 meters) of pedal-to-the-metal racing. Had the Huracan's driver not jumped the start in the third of three drag races, the SF90 may have won two times on the trot. On the other hand, it's pretty clear that Freddy's Lamborghini has the longer legs.

Unfortunately for Huracan enthusiasts and the aftermarket, Lamborghini will replace its entry-level supercar with a twin-turbo V8 plug-in hybrid in late 2024 for the 2025 model year. Similar to the SF90, the newcomer will be much harder to tune for drag racing due to the sheer complexity of its powertrain. Closely related to the three-motor Revuelto, the Huracan's replacement is also believed to sport three electric motors: two up front and one out back.

As for the Prancing Horse, the Italian automaker is already working on the successor of the SF90. The LaFerrari's heir apparent is under development as well, although you'll be shocked to hear that the F250 features a twin-turbo V6 instead of a free-breathing V12.
