While all of the motorsport press was suggesting that Ferrari would not be needing Felipe Massa’s services for another season, it turns out everybody was wrong, and he has been confirmed for another season, alongside Fernando Alonso. The improvement in his performance, which has been noticeable in the last two GP races he took part in may have turned team officials’ frowns into straight faces (not smiles).
When asked about the news, Felipe said: “I am very happy to have reached this agreement [. . .] Ferrari is my racing family and throughout my entire time in Formula 1, I have always driven cars powered by engines built in Maranello: I can’t see myself driving cars propelled by anything else! First and foremost, I want to thank President Montezemolo and Stefano Domenicali, who had faith in me and who have always supported me, even at the most difficult moments. The team and also all the fans can rest assured that I will do all in my power to help the Scuderia reach the targets it sets itself each year.”

Now that the uncertainty has passed, both Ferrari drivers can now concentrate on the remainder of the championship, consisting of just three more races. It will be an interesting conclusion to the season...
