The impact was so powerful that it lifted the 28-year-old Brazilian from his seat, as seen in the super slow motioned recording. The incident left Massa unconscious and with an open cut on his face. Ferrari’s team manager, Stefano Domenicali confirmed for the Italian television that Felipe won’t race on Sunday. The team boss proceeded in revealing Massa had indeed suffered a cut on his forehead with “a bone damage of his skull and a brain concussion".
“These conditions need to be operated on after which he will remain under observation in intensive care," said Domenicali in the same statement.
Update: Felipe's surgery went according to plan and and the outcome of the procedure was positive, said the latest press release on the driver's official website.
