We had all but forgotten about the sad story of the ‘New Stratos’, a Ferrari F430-based machine with a shorter wheelbase and 1960s style. We had also forgotten about how Ferrari decided to put an end to its creator’s dream of creating a very limited production run for it.
The car itself, thanks to F430 underpinnings and a shorter wheelbase is a really great handler (or so we hear). It recently took part in the “Isla Mallorca Rally”, where it was driven as it should, around the island’s scenic roads.
However, this video, and the impression left by the car have again saddened us, as we still say that this modern interpretation of the Stratos was genuinely worthy of more than one car. When projects this good end up in the gutter, you begin to wonder about the state of the world we live in - it’s a real shame, as it's the last car worthy to bear the Lancia badge, despite not being actually made by Lancia. . .
