Ferrari Accident in Newport Beach Kills Passenger, Destroys Car

Another high speed accident involving a Ferrari ended up tragically. One person was killed and three others were injured as the supercar got out of control, jumped a median on the Pacific Coast Highway and smashed into a flatbed truck.

According to the Newport Beach Police Department, the accident happened around 5:15 pm, Thursday night, on Pacific Coast Highway between Bayshore Drive and Jamboree Road.

Though there is no official statement about the reason the Ferrari spinned out of control, crossed the center divider and smashed into the truck, it is believed that speed was an important factor.

The passenger of the Ferrari, 24 year old Ralph Abinader of Huntington Beach, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The man believed to have been the driver, was taken to the hospital with severe burns.

Both passengers from the tow truck involved in the accident, the driver and a female passenger, were treated at the hospital for minor injuries and released as they were in a good condition. The Ferrari was not as lucky, as the car was completely destroyed in the crash.

"The Ferrari broke into several pieces," said Sgt. Evan Sailor, public information officer for the Newport Beach police. "There's debris everywhere. The vehicle was engulfed in flames when the first officer arrived on the scene."

Though there is no official statement regarding the causes of the accident, there will be a full investigation in order to determine the people responsible. No arrests have been made.
