Officially displayed for the first time to the public at the Frankfurt Auto Show, Ferrari's new 458 Italia will cost 175,364 British pounds (approximately $280,214 US dollars) when it will go on sale. The car is powered by a 4.5l V8 direct injection engine fitted with the traditional flat-plane crankshaft. In terms of output, the engine releases 570 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and 540 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm.
With the help of a seven-spead dual-clut transmission, the powerplant pushes the car from a naught to sixty in 3.4 seconds and provides a maximum speed of 325 km/h (200 mph). The car releases 320 g/km of CO2 and has a fuel consumption rate of 13.7 l/100 km combined cycle (17.16 mpg),
"The 458 Italia is designed to fulfill the expectations and ambitions of our most passionate clients, the 458 Italia continues the Ferrari tradition of putting the thrill into driving as a result of track-derived technological innovations," Ferrari said in a release earlier this year when announcing the car.
The car provides three driving modes through the innovative Vehicle Dynamic Assistance (VDA) that monitors the operating parameters of the engine, gearbox, tires and brakes. The driver is thus capable of selecting one of the three settings, Race, CT off and CTS off. According to the company's figures, the Pininfarina design of the body provides 140 kg of downforce at 200 km/h (124 mph).
Inside, the car boasts satellite pods, an in-dash TFT screen and infotainment controls with Bluetooth connectivity, satellite navigation, digital speedometer and rear parking camera.
