Italian manufacturer Ferrari today released the promo video for the replacement of the F430, the Ferrari 458 Italia. The video describes the car and its innovations as they are perceived by Dany Bahar, Ferrari Commercial and Brand vice president and Roberto Fedeli, Ferrari technical director.
The 458 Italia is powered by a 4.5l V8 direct injection engine. Mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the engine develops 570 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and 540 Nm at 6,000 rpm. This means the new Prancing Horse does 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and has a top speed of 325 km/h (200 mph).
According to Ferrari, the Pininfarina design of the body provides 140 kg of downforce at 200 km/h (124 mph), a caractheristic which is demonstrated in this video. This is achieved in part thanks to the aeroelastic winglets which deform at high speeds to reduce the section of the radiator inlets and cut drag.
"The 458 Italia present a clear break from the recent past. Within the Ferrari range, the new 458 Italia further differentiates the 8 cylinder sports car from the GT cars, while continuing to be a car that can be used every day," Dany Bahar says. "This is a pure Ferrari, that combines all the attributes that our brand has to offer: innovation, technology, exclusivity, quality, performance, design, style and passion."
Before enjoying the video, you should know this is not about the car per se, but about its technical achievements. If you are a tech-head, you'll love it, thanks to all the CGIs depicting the Italia.
