Felipe Massa Concludes Successful Barcelona Test

If poor weather kept Valentino Rossi under 100 laps during the first two days of the Barcelona testing session this week, the Gods favored Felipe Massa more on Friday. In perfect weather conditions, the Brazilian driver completed no less than 400 laps at the wheel of a Ferrari F2008, fitted with demonstration tires.

28-year old Massa decided that the meeting of the Corse Clienti department in Barcelona would be a great opportunity for him to further develop his racing skills, after his accident in Hungary last year. Therefore, after the first couple of days were dedicated to Rossi, the Brazilian was offered a head start for the pre-2010 preparations by Ferrari.

Massa ran on several race set-ups through the entire Friday – split into two sessions, morning and afternoon – and was delighted with the weather and, consequently, the opportunity to do so many miles with the 2-year old Ferrari.

It was a perfect way to optimize my form here in Barcelona. I'm really happy that I had this new opportunity to get behind the wheel of a formula one single seater on a race track. I can't wait to sit in the new car and get stuck in,” said Massa.

As for the new car, the Ferrari’s 2010 challenger will be unveiled to the media during the course of next week, before being moved to Valencia for the first official test of the off-season. Both Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa will be offered the chance to test their new car for the first time, while Giancarlo Fisichella is also expected to attend the meeting.
