Since Australians are better than Americans when it comes to burnouts (they have a world record to prove it), it's always interesting to see machines from Down Under stepping on US drag strips. And when those machines set new records, as is the case with the Chrysler Valiant Charger in the video below, their feats are worth our attention.
The muscle car in question, which belongs to the infamous VH generation of the Valiant Charger, has taken part in its fourth Drag Week event last year - those of you not familiar with this sort of acceleration gatherings should know they require racers to drive their cars hundreds of miles from one strip to another.

Pulling mid-7s quarter miles, the vehicle managed to hit 192.17 mph (309 km/h), which makes it the fastest street-legal car in its home country.

We're talking about one heavy slab of Australia here, since the thing tips the scales at 4,170 lbs (1,891 kg). This means that, to achieve the figures mentioned above, the 572 V8 under the hood needs to deliver around 2,000 ponies.

However, since we're talking about a twin 88mm turbo setup that has been dialed all the way to 26 psi, that kind of muscle only comes naturally.

We can't say the same about the journey of the vehicle, though - the owner explains his ride was held in US customs for no less than six weeks. Imagine the man's feelings and emotions upon finding out his car was released just three days before the competition kicked off.

His road trip on US soil wasn't exactly a walk in the park either, with two malfunctions, one of which kept the car pinned in a parking lot for six hours, causing him to miss one of the races.

Still, since he broke his personal record twice during the trip, we don't expect him to complain.

P.S.: Yes, we know - watching the clip below without attempting right-hand-drive humor is difficult.
