There's a reason why most people stop visiting the drag strips affected by the cold season around this time of the year. And yet some drivers simply feel the need to tempt the weather, which is what we want to show you today.
You don't have to pay close attention to the clip below - the snowflakes falling across the track, which is located in Maryland, are more than obvious.

Still, the owner of an ex-generation (friends call it the E92) M3 decided to battle another Bimmer - the second contender was entire legit, since we're talking about a current-gen (F15) X5 M.

Tempting fate is one thing and using a standing start for such a race is pure insanity, so the two went for a rolling race.

Starting off at 45 mph (that's 72 km/h for all you reading this across the pond), the two BMW Ms battle it out with a sweet soundtrack.

In theory, the M3 should leave the X5 M in its dust, or slime, in this case. We won't spoil the fun by telling you what goes on in the clip, but we do have a few things to mention before inviting you to hit the "play" button below.

As a slight spoiler, we'll explain the M3 didn't experience any issues in terms of putting the power to the odd-prepped surface.

Oh, and did we mention these cars are not in stock condition? The M3 reportedly only comes with a muffler delete, something to let that naturally aspirated V8 express its feelings.

As for the X5 M, the twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 now works under a different management, since the SUV has received a tune. The uploader of the video explains the M crossover has gone as low as 11.2 in the quarter mile while using race gas, but you won't see that kind of performance in the clip.
