Fashion's Night Out Shoppers Can Ride in 2011 VW Jetta

The Norh American division of Volkswagen announced today it has agreed to sponsor the Fashion's Night Out event, offering shoppers complimentary rides in the new Jetta. The carmaker will supply a fleet of 30 all-new 2011 Volkswagen Jettas on September 10 at two Volkswagen Style Express locations.

"Fashion's Night Out provides a great platform for consumers to experience the style and sophistication of the all-new 2011 Jetta," said Mya Walters, Brand Communications Manager, Volkswagen of America, Inc. "We are dedicated to investing in America and in New York, including a new flagship dealership in the city, which mirrors the underlying spirit that drives Fashion's Night Out."

Users will test drive the new Jetta on the 50th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues; and Greene Street between Spring and Prince Streets. Consumers can also keep track of the Volkswagen Style Express on Twitter and on the VW Facebook fan page.

“Volkswagen Style Express passengers will be greeted with a special message from Diane von Furstenberg as they cool their heels, enjoy the extra legroom, and transport their shopping bags in the Jetta's class-leading spacious trunk,”
a company statement reads.

The completely redesigned Jetta will be available throughout the U.S. in October 2010 at a price of around $16,000. The Volkswagen Style Express will be the first chance for consumers to ride in the vehicle.

The US market will receive the Jetta with four engines: three petrol engines and one turbodiesel direct-injection engine (TDI Clean Diesel). All engines are offered with a manual transmission as standard equipment, but an automatic version will also be available as an option. On the new 2.0-liter TDI and 2.0-liter TSI, Volkswagen is implementing the 6-speed DSG transmission.
