1968 witnessed a significant increase in Firebird sales, as Pontiac produced over 107,000 units, up from approximately 82,500 vehicles in 1967.
The Trans Am wasn't around yet, so the Firebird was having the time of its life, with the coupe accounting for most orders. Over 90,000 customers who stepped into a Pontiac dealership in 1968 ordered the coupe, and only 16,960 picked the convertible.

The most popular engine choice was the standard six-cylinder unit, with over 67,000 Firebirds leaving the factory with a 250ci mill under the hood. The rarest configuration this year was the 400 V8, as it made its way to only 110 Firebirds.

The Firebird in these photos rolled off the assembly lines with a 350ci V8 in charge of putting the wheels in motion, and as anyone can imagine, given its spotless shape, it runs and drives properly.

I won't comment much on what the eyes can see because I hate to state the obvious, but this Firebird looks fantastic. It's no wonder it's almost spotless, as the car spent its entire life with the same family and was parked in a garage since 1984.

As a Texas car, it didn't have to worry about rust so that you won't find such damage on this Firebird. eBay seller omlm7088 says the floors and the trunk are in mint condition, though it's unclear if the vehicle has ever received undercarriage work. It's also unknown if the Firebird still wears the original paint, but the owner says they have already made several repairs, including a new convertible top, a new gas tank, and new brakes.

The seller shared a list of recent repairs on eBay, and I advise every interested buyer to check it out before bidding. The engine and the transmission have already been rebuilt, so the working shape is no surprise.

The interior is still original, and it's impressive how good it looks after all these years. The car needs nothing, so if you buy the Firebird, you can just hop behind the wheel and start driving.

However, getting your hands on this Firebird won't be easy. The digital battle started a few days ago, and nine people entered the race to get the car. The top bid today is $10,100, but the owner also configured a reserve. It's still in place at the time of press, and I doubt the top offer is anywhere close to the reserve's value, considering this Firebird's condition.

The bidding will end in five days, so fingers crossed that someone will send a winning bid and unlock the reserve. Meanwhile, if you want to see the convertible in person, you must drive to San Antonio. The car can leave for a new home on its wheels.
