Fake Jeep Commander Truck Has Enough Swagger to Enter the US as a Posher Ram Rampage

If you know your Jeeps well, one might remember that the specialized US automaker once offered a Commander nameplate between 2005 and 2010 as a bulky, mid-size family-oriented SUV. But, as it turns out, the moniker is still alive and well – just not in America though.
At home in the United States, Jeep offers many options to customers – from the $28,345 or $28,400 Renegade and Compass entry-level crossover models to the humongous $91,140 Grand Wagoneer three-row SUV, plus just about anything in between. However, the new Commander with three-row seating is not among them, as it is built in Brazil and India as a model for emerging markets with two different names – Commander for Latin America and Meridian for India.

Well, here's the thing. While that may be fine in the real world, the imaginative realm of digital car content creators loves to fiddle with our expectations and bring out some rather impossible dreams. For example, Kleber Silva, a Brazil-based virtual artist better known as KDesign AG on social media, has decided to have a CGI go at imagining an unlikely Jeep Commander x Rampage mashup that could even bode well for a North American introduction if you ask us.

But first, a bit of background might be in order. Just recently, Stellantis delivered a veritable death blow to the four-door unibody compact pickup truck segment where Chevy's Montana thought it could rule undefeated with the introduction of the all-new, first-ever Ram Rampage (the previous Dodge Rampage was a subcompact two-door coupe utility produced for model years 1982 to 1984). To be manufactured in Brazil, it is based on the Small Wide 4×4 LWB platform shared with the second-gen Jeep Compass. It also features the good looks of a best-seller plus a choice of 2.0-liter diesel (168 hp) or Hurricane 4 gasoline engines, the latter churning out no less than 268 hp – which is enough to give the Rampage some great performance figures: zero to 62 mph (100 kph) in 6.9 seconds and a massive (for a truck) top speed of 137 mph (220 kph)!

And ever since its introduction, the pixel master has obsessed over it – making it turn into a Ram Rampage EV, Fastback, seven-seat SUV, and a host of other models from various other brands. Those included some Jeep peers alongside the new Fiat Toro Rampage or Peugeot 2008 x Rampage, plus a bunch of Chevrolets (!), and now after the Jeep Renegade R/T and Rebel x Rampage pickup trucks, it's also time for the ritziest model of them all, the Jeep Commander x Rampage. Well, the latter, if ever real – which is an unlikely possibility, at least for now – would indeed look outstanding in North America, too.

After all, the posher Hyundai Santa Cruz couldn't mitigate the clear and present danger of the cheaper and electrified Ford Maverick, so perhaps Jeep could do better in the segment of unibody compact pickup trucks. As far as we are concerned, the Jeep Commander x Rampage pickup truck sure looks the part for such a brawl. But do remember that all this is merely wishful thinking, so take it with a healthy grain of salt. Oh, and remember that a Jeep Commander with Rampage DNA plus the Hurricane 4 engine featuring 268 horsepower would probably have about the same pricing quotations as the newly released Ford Ranger Raptor and 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro i-Force Max – but without their mid-size capabilities because it's a unibody affair, not a regular body-on-frame hero!
