There is a week or so left until Codemasters will launch their F1 game onto the market (North America on September 22 and the UK on September 24) and more and more details regarding the game which is expected to be the best F1 simulator in years become available.
According to the latest, the biggest novelty for F1 is the fact that it features not only the daytime races we are used to from the real Formula 1, but also a night mode, previewed in the trailer released by the game developer on the Singapore track.
“F1 2010, powered by the award-winning EGO engine, authentically recreates the effect of the circuit’s hundreds of thousands of individual light sources as stars including Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel take on one of the most dramatic events on the FORMULA ONE calendar,” Codemasters says in a statement.
According to the info available on the game so far, F1 2010 will focus more on racing than on the player tweaking his car. The EGO engine is a bettered version of the one used in classics like DiRT, GRID and DiRT 2, almost a guarantee of great visuals.
The tracks in the game have been designed to be intelligent, meaning that every portion of every track has different grip or moisture.
“To bring the track alive and show that being an F1 driver is as much about observation and strategy as it is about reflexes and courage, we accurately simulate not only how the track and weather effect the car, but how the car and weather effect the track,” Paul Jeal, Senior Producer at Codemasters Birmingham was quoted as saying by incgamers.com.
“Each wheel-sized patch of asphalt knows how wet, how sheltered, how grippy and how dirty it is. The track displays a richly detailed record of the passage of cars and weather on its surface to be read back and exploited by the skilled driver.“
As said, the game launches next week and will be available on all platforms that mean something today: PC, PS3 and Xbox.
