F1 Video Game Officially Released!

F1 2009 video game has finally been released for all the die hard fans of Formula One out there. Awaited by the racing fans from all over the world since December last year, the game finally hit the stores in the United States and is expected to be available for the British public later this week, on Friday.

Formula One fans around the world will get the chance to take to the virtual grid and emulate their heroes from Tuesday, as F1 2009 on the Nintendo Wii and PSP races into stores across North America, before sprinting into PAL territories this Thursday and accelerating onto UK streets the day after. The PSP edition of F1 2009 will also be available as a download from the PlayStation Store at launch,” said the press release from the Formula One official site.

The game was developed by British video game developers Codemasters, which makes it even harder to figure out why the Warwickshire-based company chose to debut the game in the North American continent, prior to the very home of Formula One racing, the UK.

However, switching to real facts now, Codemasters won the right to develop the official F1 2009 game last year and used no less than 350 people to develop this particular project.

Good news for the fans include the fact that Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton will appear for the first time in a Formula One video game. Also, all driver and teams of the 2009 Formula One season are featured in the game – including Brawn GP team and the Abu Dhabi F1 Circuit, those being the highest attractions.

The gamers will have a several choices to take when playing the game. They can either do a full season with an F1 driver – including practice sessions, qualifying and the 17 races on schedule – or a 3-year Career mode, aiming to progressively become world champion. In addition, all players can access Quick mode racing, in which one can choose from doing a single fast lap or a full race with a certain driver.

All of these game modes are also available in both competitive and co-operative multiplayer with the Wii version supporting two player split screen and the PSP version allowing four players to play together via ad hoc multiplayer sessions. For fair racing between players of different abilities, the game will suggest driver aids for each racer depending upon their skill level, making F1 2009 accessible to players of all ages and experience,” added the press release.
