There are pickup trucks that you work around the farm with or trucks you run errands in around town. And then there is this sinister, evil-looking, blacked-out GMC Sierra 3500 Heavy Duty Dually lifted to the sky. Long gone are its days on the farm.
This 2023 GMC Sierra 3500 Heavy Duty Dually is not your usual family or farm pickup truck anymore. With the dual rear axle for a total of six wheels, the vehicle can tow the entire California all the way to Florida and back.
Well, not exactly, but the next best thing: it is capable of pulling up to 36,000 pounds (16,329 kilograms) when powered by the L5P Duramax engine, sporting a maximum payload capacity of 7,442 pounds (3,376 kilograms). Eat your heart out, Tesla Cybertruck!
This force of nature running on six wheels has just received looks to match all those capabilities. Sherwood Customs did a magic trick and made all the chrome disappear. The details on the mirror cases, bumpers, and fenders, but also the door handles and the window trim are now in gloss black.
To match the rest of the vehicle, the team also painted the turn indicators on the fenders black. The logos everywhere went dark as well. There is a massive custom radiator grille up front finished in gloss black, flanked by the stock LED lights. It received a new front bumper at the front to match the new grille.
The monster rides on 24-inch Cali Invader multi-spoke wheels powder-coated in black, with 37-inch Venom tires. New shock absorbers make the ride smoother. The Sierra 3500HD now stands tall, further from the ground, thanks to the 6.5 BD lift kit. When stock, it was 80.87 inches (2,054 millimeters), but those numbers are long gone now.
The stock vehicle rolls off the production line of the Fort Wayne assembly plant in Roanoke, Indiana, with a ground clearance of 11.82 inches (300 millimeters). The standard length of the 3500 HD Dually Crew Cab is 205.08 inches (6,352 millimeters). But with the custom front bumper, it surely gained a couple of inches.
There is no video from inside the truck, but it is probably safe to assume that the chrome vanished from the cabin as well, and everything went dark.
There is no information on any engine upgrade. So it is safe to assume that the sinister blacked-out GMC Sierra 3500 HD Dually is still powered by either the 6.6-liter V8 petrol engine with 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque with the six-speed Hydra-Matic auto box or the 6.6-liter turbo-diesel with 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet, mated to the ten-speed automatic transmission. Either way, it is a force of nature both on and off the road.
