The next-generation Porsche 911 is keeping us busy these days, with prototypes of the 992 showing up both on the track (here's a Turbo Cabriolet on the Green Hell) and on the street (we've brought you a Carrera on the street). Then again, we musn't rush to the retirement of the 991.2 Neunelfer.
For one thing, Porsche has yet to deliver the swansong of the current 911 incarnation, with that title going to the upcoming Speedster. In fact, the rumor mill also talks about the possibility of the German carmaker introducing a GT3 Cabriolet, which would come as a Speedster for the "masses".
Heck, we don't even need to check out the upcoming models in our quest for rear-engined giggles. For instance, we've brought along a 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS that can easily get one in a day-dreaming mood.
The Rennsport Neunelfer we have here comes dressed in an uber-refined Paint To Sample shade. We're referring to Etna Blue, the kind of color that stands out without having to scream.
Looking past the main color of the car, we'll mention other sweet optional extras found on the vehicle.
For instance, the 2RS is focused on track might, since it comes with the Weissach Package and the magnesium wheels, with the latter being finished in White Gold Metallic.
Keep in mind that these two are sold as separate options - while they debuted together, the 991.2 GT3 RS saw the being offered separately, with the GT2 RS following suit.
Oh, and let's not forget the all-LED headlights of the machine, whose black inner graphics match the carbon bits included in the W Pack (the headlights can also be ordered in Silver)
The rear-engined animal we have here was recently delivered to Chicago, Illinois and here's to hoping it gets to spend as much time outside the garage as possible.
