Porsche engineers are currently polishing the final details of the next-generation 911. At least five derivatives have been spotted testing to date, with these including the Carrera (S), Carrera (S) Cabriolet, Turbo, Turbo Cabriolet and possibly the GT3.
And we are now back on the topic, as a 911 Turbo Cabriolet has recently hit the Nurburgring. The extensive spy coverage that can be found in the piece of footage at the bottom of the page allows you to check out the 992 model in detail. In its Green Hell attack, the prototype even met a McLaren 720S, wetting our appetite for a comparison.

Of course, the soundtrack is an important part of the experience, with this clip also delivering a hefty sample of the supercar's voice.

Compared to the Carrera (S) prototypes, the Turbo comes with a widebody approach, while also packing air intakes on the rear fenders, as well as a different wing - while both models come with active wings, that of the non-Turbo models can be integrated into the posterior, while the one of the Turbo stands out.

The Carrera models will pack updated versions of the current turbocharged 3.0-liter engines, which debuted on the 991.2. As for the 911 Turbo, the 3.8-liter motor animating the current model is expected to make room for an all-new engine.

The rumor mill also talks about the Neunelfer range welcoming a 911 Turbo S E-Hybrid model, following the path set by the Panamera and the Cayenne.

However, while Porsche has already confirmed the hybridization of the newcomer, the carmaker hasn't offered any further details. As such, the plug-in hybrid setup could be limited to a potential 4 E-Hybrid model, which would deliver Carrera S levels of performance.

P.S.: You can find the encounter between the 2020 Porsche 911 Turbo and the McLaren 720S at the 5:04 point of the video below. Nevertheless, the rest of the clip is also worthy of your attention.

Update:Here's a fixed-roof 2020 Porsche 911 Turbo testing in German traffic.
