These days, the next-generation Porsche 911 is a constant presence in our headlines. Earlier this week, we've shown you a 911 Turbo Cabriolet on the Nurburgring, as well as a fixed-roof 911 Turbo doing its thing in German traffic. And the same streets that welcomed the latter also saw 911 Carrera (S) prototypes testing.
As you'll notice in the pieces of footage at the bottom of the page, the camouflage on the test vehicles doesn't do too much to conceal the appearance of the 992. Then again, with the posterior of the 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera's posterior having already been photographed in fully uncovered form, the visual details are plenty.

With the 991.2 models having welcomed all-new turbocharged 3.0-liter boxer motors, these will receive a few touches for the next-generation model. Once again, a manual transmission will be offered alongside the PDK dual-clutch setup.

The 911 Carrera 4S can already lap the Nurburgring in under 7:30 when fitted with the optional rear-wheel steering and power kit. And with the 992 packing tech goodies like wider tracks, we're expecting this to deliver stunning Green Hell numbers (keep in mind that the Carrera S models are sportscars, not supercars, with the latter role being reserved for the Turbo).

In terms of the cabin, the most important change will be brought by the dashboard. As shown by previous spyshots, the central analog tacho will stay in place, with this set to be flanked by a pair of screens that will help maintain the traditional five-instrument layout.

We are now just months away from the introduction of the 992 Porsche 911. However, until the next-gen model comes out, we'll get to see the swansong(s) of the 991.2, namely the 911 Speedster, as well as the potential 911 GT3 Cabriolet.

While the first has been confirmed, we can't say the same about the latter, with this expected to arrive as a Speedster for the "masses".
