EICMA 2010 International Motorcycle Show Preview

Although the decision of taking off to Milan was taken on a short leash, we managed to make all the arrangements needed to grab a spot at the biggest motorcycle show of the year. Yes, ladies and gents, autoevolution will be attending an international event dedicated to two-wheeled contraptions and accessories for the first time since its inception, but this doesn’t mean that we’re not ready to face the challenge... gladly. Getting straight to the point, we did our homework and found out what should we, and all of you, expect from the upcoming EICMA show in Milan this week (November 2-7, 2010).
Despite the fact that the European motorized two-wheeled market is still caught up in a rather nasty situation, with a drop in sales of no less than 30 percent compared to when the crisis debuted in autumn 2008, EICMA is bound to be flooded with wonders.

The event will be welcoming back several major manufacturers that withdrew from the 2009 presentation, including Honda, Yamaha, Dainese and Nolan.

Also, event organizers brag that up to 53 companies will be exhibiting in Milan for the first time. Add that number to some other 48 companies that are loyal exhibitors to the show, and we’ll have some 101 companies on site.

As we previously reported, Honda will be presenting 8 brand new products in Milan, including the 800cc VFR Crossover concept, which is already generating huge interest thanks to a few teaser images released by the Japanese manufacturer in the last couple of weeks.

Furthermore, Italian manufacturer Ducati will be presenting the new Diavel model, a power cruiser that looks (and promises to be) as evil as its name suggests.

Another notable appearance is that of MV Agusta, who will be presenting its already famous and extremely coveted F3 for the first time. But then again, what MV Agusta model is not desirable?

Also, Dainese will be making its comeback to EICMA with two very interesting projects: D Air and AGV Standards.

An area of 80,000 square meters will be prepared outdoors in the form of Motolive, with over 400 riders to take part in a display of skills, while enthusiasts will also be offered the opportunity to test the new products for 2011. Moreover, the two innovations for this year, which share a similar concept, are Custom City and Two Wheel Touring.

Now that we offered you a sneak preview of what this year’s EICMA show has up its sleeve, it’s time for us to fly to Milan and do our best in providing you with a huge and detailed coverage of the event, including live images and comprehensive information of these much anticipated innovations.
