Honda Readies Eight Motorcycle Models for EICMA 2010

Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Honda recently announced it will be debuting not one, but eight new models at the upcoming EICMA show in Milan this November. The company’s press office states the decision reflects the importance of the European motorcycle business to Honda and also reflects the importance the Italian motorcycle market

Last year Honda decided to skip the Milan fair citing the world economic crisis, but this year will be back stronger than ever to feature their latest in motorcycle technology and new models, while at the INTERMOT show in Cologne (October 6-10) they will be presenting a range of new colors for their best selling models.

“In choosing Milan as our lead European product event, Honda shows its commitment to supporting our key production facility in Atessa, Italy; and our design study in Rome,”
stated Mark Davies, General Manager of Motorcycles, Honda Motor Europe.

The new Honda models will be unveiled to the international press on November 2. The company says its stand at the event will spread over 1500 sqm, but failed to give any details related to the exact models it will present.

However, speculations point to a new CBF600, as well as a replacement for the Pan European, specifically, a V4 using the same engine and chassis as the new VFR1200F, but wrapped in different bodywork hinting at touring capabilities. The model, rumored to be called VFR1200T, is expected to feature the Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) system that Honda announced five years ago.

“We are not yet in a position to provide details as to what these products are; but we can confirm it will include a mix of exciting brand new models and also significant developments to existing popular models,” commented Harry Cooklin, Manager Communications (Motorcycles), Honda Motor Europe.
