Japanese manufacturer Honda is displaying these days at the EICMA show in Milan several of both its existing and new models, including production versions and concepts. One of the concepts shown at the Honda is the so-called New Mid Concept.
The concept has been designed to “reinvent the way we look at two wheeled travel.” In words we can all understand, Honda says it manage to combine, in an unlikely union of two different breeds, a sports bike and a... scooter.
“Honda New Mid Concept reinvents the way we look at two wheeled travel. This concept combines innovative thinking and new technology to create a multi discipline machine,” Honda says in a statement.
There's no telling yet what is meant to power the contraption, but the bike maker brags the New Mid Concept offers “energetic riding sensation.' The bike-meets-scooter features the Dual Clutch Transmission used on the VFR1200F.
The clutch system allows the rider to drive depending on the needs of the moment. In the city, it can be used to ease the bike's way, while providing good enough (yet unspecified fuel economy), and it can also show a bit more punch when needed.
The bike sits and rides on 17 inch wheels with PRO-LINK rear suspension. At the front, fairing air vents coupled with the larger wheels are used to provide stability when riding at higher speeds.
An autoevolution crew is on scene at the EICMA event, so expect more news from this event to come over the following hours.
