Luxury superyachts are floating palaces that the world's ultrarich use not only for private nautical escapes but also to flaunt their wealth. However, a completely customized yacht can take a few years to be built, and many modern yachtsmen would rather shorten that time. Oceanco has come up with a solution that simplifies the process from yacht design to completion and promises a shorter delivery time.
The Dutch shipyard has created the Simply Custom Collection, an impressive series of semi-custom superyacht concepts from the best designers in the world, all built on the same technical foundation, a proven naval platform developed by Lateral Naval Architects. There are 17 superyachts in the new range, which was initially announced during the 2023 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, and the latest addition to the collection is Dunes by Amsterdam-based the Touch Studio.

This new bespoke Oceanco yacht has been designed as the ultimate recreational watercraft that blends an efficient hull with high-end luxury and impressive performance. According to the Touch Studio designers Veronica Vergari and Timothy Badacci, the new yacht concept "draws its inspiration from a hidden gem: the Parque Nacional dos Lençóis Maranhenses in Brazil," which explains its name.

The Park is a protected area on the Atlantic coast of the South American country and is known for its expansive desert with white sand dunes and seasonal rainwater lagoons. "In this haven, the interplay of sand and water gives rise to an exceptional natural landscape, crafted by the wind's relentless artistry," the designers explain.

Similarly, the exterior of the new Dunes superyacht emulates fluid natural elements, harmoniously combining sleek, straight lines with curved ones that imitate the water's precise lines and the sinuous contours of the sand dunes.

Judging by the renderings revealed so far, the designers went for a contemporary approach with smooth surfaces and an abundance of luxury amenities, including a jacuzzi on the flybridge, a helipad, a garage for tenders and water toys, and more.

The highlight of Dunes is the stern area, which is designed to resemble terraces sculpted in the dunes. The beach deck is an expansive area that can be optioned with lateral-opening terraces, providing a seamless connection to the sea. Fitted with a large pool, plenty of sunpands, and comfy lounges, the beach area is the perfect spot for sunbathing, socializing, and taking in the surrounding sea views.

"One of the standout features of Dunes are its aft terraces, with the option to have an entirely openable beach area that is connected directly to the sea, and with maximum flexibility in circulation. Dunes becomes one with the marine environment, and everyone onboard will feel this dual sense of freedom and connection," said the Touch Studio.

The Dutch design studio aims to create a sensory experience with each new project so that owners can foster a deep and lasting connection to the space. The renderings for Dunes showcase bespoke furniture designed with a holistic approach to create a unified aesthetic for the exterior of the yacht and the al-fresco areas.

As for accommodation on board Dunes, the yacht will feature an owner's stateroom on the upper deck and six guest cabins on the main deck, with a layout that can be customized based on the owner's preferences.

Like all the yachts in the Simply Custom Collection, Dunes features a highly optimized and efficient hull and all-electric propulsion and energy architecture systems. A highly optimized stabilization system and podded drives will ensure exceptional propulsion efficiency and the highest level of comfort for guests onboard.
