No Oceanco superyacht could be any less than spectacular, and the test of time is one of the biggest confirmations. The sumptuous Luna B will be twenty years old next year, but that doesn't stop it from being one of the most spectacular private yachts in operation – so much so that it had no problem finding a new wealthy owner.
This could prove to be a pivotal year for the 2005 Oceanco masterpiece known as Luna B. It changed hands this month after entering the market two years ago. Back then, it was asking for more than $50 million (€47.5 million). Over the years, the price dropped to $46 million (€42.5 million), which was the last asking price at the time of its sale. Its new owner is still mysterious, but that won't probably last too long.

When you become the owner of such a jaw-dropping pleasure craft, avoiding the limelight is impossible. Luna B is a well-known name among the celebrity superyachts. It was one of the regulars at the infamous New Year's celebration at St Barths, which has become synonymous with a "superyacht showdown." Compared to the heavy hitters, Luna B was in a smaller league, if you can consider a 66-meter (216 feet) ultra-luxurious superyacht "small."

The stunning Oceanco vessel was also known to belong to American/Canadian billionaire Robert Friedland, who built an empire worth billions in the mining development industry. He wasn't selfish, though, sharing his impressive luxury toy with charter customers who were happy to part with hundreds of thousands of dollars for a few days onboard Luna B.

What makes this floating mansion particularly striking is the unusual silhouette. It looks different than any other contemporary motor yacht, and that's because it was directly inspired by the classic yachts of the Golden Era. The rounded transom is a clear reference to that era, and it gives Luna B its unique aesthetic. At the same time, this floating mansion couldn't be any more contemporary in terms of amenities.

Everything about Luna B is over the top, including a fabulous cinema, an exterior dining table that can seat 18 people, and a stunning waterfall pool of more than 19,000 liters (5,000 gallons).

To say that this vessel provides generous accommodation would be an understatement. Up to 16 guests can enjoy cruising onboard, each one accommodated in lavish, ultra-elegant suites, while a huge 19-person crew takes hospitality to the highest level.

Originally launched as Dilbar, the 19-year-old Oceanco bears the signature of some of the most acclaimed names in the industry, including the late Alberto Pinto, who styled its vast interiors. Several refits, including a 16-month rebuild completed in 2020, kept this jewel in flawless condition and in line with the latest trends.
Under new ownership, a new era begins for the famous Luna B, which might even step up its notoriety and become even more visible.
