Rivian is keeping its promise – Max Pack deliveries will start very soon. Customers have indicated that they received an email or a phone call about their orders being made ready for delivery. Some units have even popped up in the shop. Here's what's going on.
Two Dual-Motor Max-Pack R1T customers confirmed in a private Facebook group that Rivian contacted them to lock in their configuration and move forward with establishing delivery details.

Another potential buyer shared on Reddit that they found a black (Midnight) and a gray (El Cap Granite) R1T in the shop. However, the automaker reached out and explained that these units were not up for grabs. They are being matched with existing orders.

If some customers decide to give up on their Dual-Motor Max-Pack R1Ts, then the units will end up in the shop so other interested buyers can snatch them. The brand promised to let everyone know when such units will become available.

Earlier this year, in March, we told you about how Rivian was planning to start deliveries of the Dual-Motor Max-Pack Rivian R1S in the fall. Lo and behold, it's the end of September, and the brand's first electric vehicles boasting the largest energy storage unit are set to reach customers in a week or two tops. But it's the R1T that will end up in people's driveways, not the SUV.

Sadly, the R1S with the 180-kWh battery is not a thing for now. It will become available at some point because Rivian already confirmed the vehicle would boast 400 miles of EPA-rated range. It's not canceled, even though the option does not appear in the online configurator when writing. So, don't cross it off your list if you still want it.

Some previous reports from buyers asking customer representatives about the Dual-Motor Max-Pack R1S said the brand was figuring out some final engineering tidbits but strongly indicated that the vehicle would not vanish.

But that's still great news. It signals that the Irvine-based company listens to customers' wishes and tries its best to come to market with a polished product, not just a hunk of metal that doesn't do what it promised. And keep in mind that this is happening only a week after the automaker started delivering the dual-motor R1T. That's a clear sign of progress and healthy business operations.

If you want a Rivian R1T that can achieve an EPA-rated range of 410 miles, you're looking at a starting price of $89,000 for the Dual-Motor Max-Pack configuration and $94,000 for the Performance Dual-Motor Max-Pack spec.

The Enduro-equipped units spotted in the EV maker's online shop had a pre-tax price of $99,000 and $102,000, respectively.

Finally, the impressive range is only achieved when the pickup truck rides on 21-inch wheels. The 22s drop it by about 40 miles, while the all-terrain 20s take it down to around 330 miles. But those are still great numbers, no matter how you look at it.
