Drag Race: SRT8 Grand Cherokee Almost Wins Against Viper GTS

This has to be the first battle of David vs Goliath where we actually wanted Goliath to win. Why? Because it's a drag race, where you wouldn't expect a heavy SUV to stand a chance against the V10 monster that is the Viper GTS.
The 1996 Dodge Viper GTS packs a V10 engine with over 450 hp and 490 lb-ft (663 Nm) willing it off the line. Chrysler says it will do 4.5 seconds to 62 miles per hour, but that's not taking into account the drag radials.

The Jeep Cherokee on the other hand has a SRT8 logo on the boot and a V8 HEMI engine making only 420 hp. It's half a second slower to 62 and has a much lower top speed. The automatic gearbox isn't helping it either, but the owner fitted it with Nos, so it almost matches the Viper.

Jeep vs Dodge, now that's the kind of sibling rivalry we like!
