As hard as the NASCAR crashes are, it’s far more difficult for us to give you a piece of news like this one: Dodge is expected to make an official announcement that will let us all know that it is moving out of NASCAR.
The first rumors emerged earlier this year, when Penske Racing, a team had had been using Dodge cars for quite some years, announced that it would switch to Ford for the 2013 season.
Dodge should soon release its motorsport schedule for next year’s season and the carmaker is expected to drop NASCAR from the list of activities planned for the 2013 racing. Chrysler is expected to concentrate on its new SRT go-fast brand instead and will make efforts to introduce the new 2013 SRT Viper in the American Le Mans Series. In fact, the 2013 SRT Viper has already made its racing debut over the weekend ,with the team entering two cars that both made it to the finish with no issues.
We have to tell you that we feel things are not going in the right direction for the Dodge brand. First, the Ram trucks were transformed into a standalone brand, then the Viper went to the new SRT performance division of the Chrysler group and now Dodge is being taken out of NASCAR. What's next - taking the Challenger and the Charger (why is this a sedan, by the way?) out of the equation?
