Dodge Durango Goes to the 2010 Rock'n'Roll Marathon

American manufacturer Chrysler calculated its moves carefully this year so, for instance, the newly revealed Dodge Durango get a spot in the Dodge caravan which will take to the Rock 'n' Roll marathon in Virginia Beach.

The event takes place on Labor Day weekend, September 6, and will see Dodge as the main sponsor of the event. As a sponsor, Dodge will supply a Durango to be the official pace car of the Dodge Rock ‘n’ Roll Virginia Beach Half Marathon presented by SunTrust race.

Aside from this car, a caravan of Dodge vehicles, which also includes the Durango, has already left the company's headquarters in Auburn Hills yesterday and will reach the Dodge Rock ‘n’ Roll Virginia Beach Half Marathon this weekend.

For those who don't have a clue yet, this type of marathon is a combination between a sports event and a rock concert. Walkers and runners will have the chance to see and here several rock'n'roll bands perform at every mile of the race. The Virginia Beach event is expected to draw 20,000 marathon runners and walkers.

The Durango model presented on Thursday is meant to be only the first in the line of vehicles which are supposed to revive Chrysler. The SUV is based on the new platform of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and will be offered with a choice of two engines, a 3.6l Pentastar V6 and a 5.7l Hemi V8. The model will enter showrooms later this year. Prices for the new Durango have not yet been announced.
