New Management Changes at Volkswagen

German manufacturer Volkswagen has begun and is apparently ending the week with the announcement of new executive appointments within the group. This time, the appointments concern the positions of Group Representative for Human Resources in China and Group Marketing Communications.

VW will hand over the human resources responsibilities in China to Klaus Dierkes, currently member of the board for human resources at VW's subsidiary Skoda. Dierkes, who will have to cope with the increasing demand for Volkswagen vehicles in China, joined the commercial department of Skoda in 1985 and slowly moved through the ranks until he was appoint to the board.

The executive will take his new position on January 1, 2011, and will be replaced on the Skoda board by Bohdan Wojnar, who moves from the human resources department at Volkswagen Slovakia.

The newly-created Group Marketing Communications function has been handed over to Giovanni Perosino on September 1, after serving as director of marketing communications at the Fiat group.

Perosino started his career in 1992 when he joined Bacardi-Martini. He moved to Fila Holding (Milan) as marketing director in 1991 and joined the Fiat group ten years later as marketing communications director for the Lancia brand. In 2005 he was appointed global marketing communications for the Fiat brand. He also worked as an adviser for the Chrysler Group.

“We are driving Volkswagen’s successful growth further forward with the systematic coordination of marketing communications at Group level,” said Christian Klingler, board Member for sales at Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft.

As the carmaker expands its operations and grip on the automotive world, it is likely more appointments will folow.
