Dodge’s upcoming unibody SUV has offered an important identification mystery, as two names have been expected for the vehicle: Magnum and Durango.
Now it seems like all that is over as the automotive producer has launched a teaser site dedicated to the vehicle, which makes it clear that we will be dealing with Durango. In addition to that, Dodge offers us the car’s release date. Well, sort of: earlier media reports showed that the vehicle will come as a 2012 model, but the website makes it clear that the car will be a 2011 model.
The teaser site allows users to browse through a series of images that show various close-up shots of the car. As usual with these type of sites, none of the pics gives us an idea of how the vehicle will look.
Actually, that is not necessary, as we already saw a picture of the naked Durango last month. The image of the vehicle was released on Twitter. We really wonder if anyone lost his/her job over that image. But let’s move on...
As the 2011 Dodge Durango (it’s good to be able to know the exact name of the car) is based on the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee’s platform, the vehicle will be a proper SUV. This means that it will also offer off-road capabilities.
Under the hood of the vehicle we expect to find the same units as in the Grand Cherokee. We are talking about the Pentastar 3.6 liter V6 engine and the 5.7 liter Hemi V8 powerplant.
