When Dodge dropped the Demon bomb, many expected the uber-Challenger to become a collector car. After all, with the thing packing 840 ponies and, more importantly, only coming with a 3,300-unit production run, seeing it stored in a garage with the owner for its value to increase sounds like something you can expect. And while certain Demons obviously get the dreaded garage queen treatment, there are plenty of these Challengers that get put to work.
To date, we've shown you tons of drag races involving the HEMI wielder and we're referring to both street and drag strip adventures. And while we're back with another battle of the sort, the one we have here is special.
For one thing, the fight, which is a 1/8-mile shenanigan held at the strip, involves a Dodge Challenger SRT Demon that has been given the taxi treatment. We're not sure whether this thing is actually used like a cabbie, but its wrap, along with the box adorning its roof would have one believe this.
The Mopar machine came across another Demon for this 1/8-mile challenge, as you'll notice in the piece of footage at the bottom of the page.
Speaking of flogged Dodge Demons, we'll remind you that the aftermarket side of the industry has started playing with the SRT halo car. For instance, there are three extreme examples we're currently keeping an eye on.
The first is the one modded by Hennessey Performance, with the Texan developer's vehicle, which packs about 1,000 horses, currently holding the quarter-mile run thanks to a 9.1s run.
As for the second, this is a privately-owned vehicle modded by a small garage, but the thing also packs about a thousand horses, thanks to a comprehensive nitrous setup.
When it comes to the third machine on our list, this shows tremendous potential. Modded by HEMI specialist Tim Barth, the thing delivers around 1,300 hp and might just become the first 8s Demon by the end of the summer.
