Dodge Charger Hellcat Drag Races McLaren MP4-12C at goldRush Rally 1/4-Mile Fest

Why would a McLaren MP4-12C and a Dodge Challenger Hellcat engage in a battle at the drag strip? Sure, you never need a reason for prepped surface brawls, but just think about how different these tow cars are.

From how cool their names are to the feeling everybody gets when these two machines step onto a scale, virtually everything about these go-fast heroes has antithesis written all over it.

Come to think of it, there is one aspect that might bring the two together and we're talking about their age. Fortunately, the SRT sedan manages to hide this with the help of its sheer muscle. As for the MP4-12C, McLaren has come a long way since 2012 and yet the punch packed by their first street car after a decade of absence will still leave you breathless and we mean that in a literal sense.

The two recently got together at the drag strip as part of the 2016 goldRush Rally and you can see how things went in the piece of footage below. To be more precise, the battle was held at the zMAX Dragway in Concord, NC.

And while the tons of electronics in the Woking supercar might make you believe the sprinting potential of the Brit is easier to reach, the action in the video might prove you wrong. Both cars came rather far from the fastest times ever recorded in such vehicles (obviously stock).

Truth be told, while the Charger Hellcat was off by almost 1.5 seconds, the McLaren completed the 1,320-feet sprint around 0.7 seconds later than it could have done it in ideal conditions.

The 8th edition of the goldRush Rally continues to take its 100+ cars across the country as you are reading this, as the event runs between May 13 and May 21. And, in case you were wondering, the Lamborghini Trumpventador is among these vehicles, so we don't know if things will end well.
