Dave Blaney to Drive for TBR

The final touches are currently being made by the NASCAR teams before the start of the next season, with the little modifications brought to the strategy for the upcoming season involving both the cars themselves and the drivers.

The off-season migration of drivers, a very busy one this year, continues this week with the announcement made by Tommy Baldwin Racing (TBR) that, for the entire Sprint Cup, the No. 36 Chevrolet will be driven by Dave Blaney.

Blaney, who has been competing in the Sprint since 1999, failed to make a lasting impression on the sports so far. He managed to secure two poles, three top-fives and 27 top-10s in his entire career.

The driver will team up with crew chief/team owner Tommy Baldwin and, despite planning to start all the 36 races of the season, only 16 will be essential, including the two races at Daytona, Phoenix, Bristol, Martinsville, Richmond or New Hampshire.

The reason behind the decision to focus on the 16 races comes because of the lack of funding. The team plans to compete the full season and intends to secure the money for the remaining races on the go.

"Our plan is in place to compete in 16 events with or without sponsorship," team owner Tommy Baldwin was quoted as saying by NASCAR.

"We would definitely love to bring a sponsor on board to support our team in those 16 races and more. We will continue to seek more funding and add to our schedule by developing unique and customized packages for potential partners."
