Romanian carmaker Dacia celebrated the 5 millionth automobile produced under its own brand on May 6th. The landmark model, a fresh Duster crossover in black, was accompanied by factory workers off the line in Mioveni, the spiritual home of Dacia and the largest automobile factory in the country.
Currently, the Duster model represents over 50 percent of the total daily production of the Mioveni factory. Since its launch, it has boosted the Romanian brand's footprint in the European market significantly and under the Renault and Nissan brands has spread to Latin America, Africa or India.

However, Dacia comes from much humbler beginnings than the Duster. The company started making cars during the communist era in 1968 with the 1100, a small car built under license from Renault, who developed it as the R8. Since 1999, Dacia has been a sub-brand of the Renault Group, which transformed it into one of the biggest budget car brands in the world.

Currently, the Romanian factory produces 350,000 cars per year, most of which are either brand new or significantly refreshed models – Logan, Sandero, Sandero Stepway Duster and Logan MCV. The rest of the Dacia models are assembled in Morocco – Dokker, Dokker Van and Lodgy.

The factory located in Tanger was opened in February 2012 and has already reached a capacity of 500,000 cars per year. Of these, half are Nissans, but the Dacia models will soon receive higher priority due to an increase in demand.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
