With Porsche currently being more popular than ever, people's interest for the 959 retired halo car has also grown over the past few years. In fact, the 959 is now so popular that a crashed example that has lost a wheel is expected to fetch half a million dollars at an upcoming auction.
You can check out the Zuffehuasen three-wheeler in the piece of footage below, with the machine set to be auctioned off by Mecum at the August 23-25 Monterey 2018 event.

The Komfort specification, which is used for this unit, only saw 294 examples being built, so we're looking at an uber-race piece of Porsche history here. As far as the history of this particular model is concerned, the odometer only shows 3,657 miles.

And while the story of the 80s supercar's crash hasn't been shared, the damage is not exactly light. Then again, when it comes to such a rare gem, the effort of bringing it back on the road is more than worth it (heck, the same would be true even if we'd be looking at a 911 Carrera).

After all, Porsche's current all-paw might traces its roots to the 959. Then again, AWD was just one of the tech blessings of the 959. And that's because the list of tech goodies of the supercar also incudes twin-sequential turbocharging, with its 2.85-liter flat-six delivering a meaty 450 hp - the engine was a remastering of the 962 racecar's heart, so the Porsche motorsport DNA is strong with this one.

Then there's the body of the car, which maximizes torsional stiffness and reduces weight by turning to materials such as Kevlar and Nomex.

Keep in mind that while the 959 couldn't initially be imported into the US, things have changed, so the machine can now be tuned for EPA compliance.

And, depending on the part of the country where you drive this, you might just come across a Ferrari F40 and go for an epic battle.
