The Honda Civic is one of the best selling cars in America... ever, and that means they can’t get a single thing wrong or risk losing customers. But even before a single test drive had been published, everybody complained that the 2012 Honda Civic looked unoriginal and boring.
The problems really started piling up when Consumer Reports tested the 2012 Civic and found it was so bad they couldn’t even recommend it. They found that the suspension, the steering and the interior were all pretty bad, and Honda lost favor with customers.
Even though the Civic rebounded in the sales charts, they deemed it necessary to launch a complete refresh of the car just 18 months after it was launched. And naturally, the first ones to sample the changes were the guys at Consumer Reports.
They found that the 2013 Civic revealed just recently is much better, featuring some (not all) soft-touch plastics, revised suspension and steering, while retaining the good qualities the car already had.
Consumer Reports did not release their full verdict yet. That will come later when they by their own Civic and conduct testing.
