Australia is widely known because of Steve Irwin, koalas, crocodiles, spiders and its glorious outback, but us petrolheads love it best for its insatiable thirst for kilowatts. FPV and HSV offer some pretty wicked and powerful machines, but what the boys from Walkinshaw Performance did with the Holden Commodore is insane and we can't get enough of it.
The Melbourne-based tuning outfit baptized its all-new package 'Racing Edition' and it's built on either the VF or VE Commodore in sedan, wagon or ute flavor to boot. However, this breed of tune will be rarer than the hairy-nosed wombat. Walkinshaw announced that only 50 units will ever be made encompassing all body styles and they mean it.

But why limit production to such a low figure? Why is the Walkinshaw Performance Racing Edition so special? Well, an Eaton Twin Vortice 2300 blower is to blame for this, with the addition of a cat-back exhaust, an upgraded camshaft, heavy-duty valve springs, high-flow fuel injectors, ceramic headers and a water-to-air intercooler to keep things all nice and tight.

If you have AUD $24,490 to spare and a VE/VF Commodore lying in your garage, these guys will supply the aforementioned kit and fit it to your car. That is only if you got a 6-liter VE or VF built from 2006 to 2014. But even those of you with an HSV E Series/Gen-F 6.2-liter from 2006 through 2014 can benefit from the Walkinshaw Performance recipe to power bumping.

The big boy supercharging treatment will hike your ride's output all the way to 500 kW (670 hp) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque for the 6-liter vee eight, while the 6.2L HSV gets a chunky 550 kW (737 horsepower) and 980 Nm (546 lb-ft) of rear tire-shredding torque, which is insane for a road-legal vehicle such as the good ol' Commodore. If you want one, you'd better hurry with that deposit 'cos Walkinshaw will start working on that limited run of Racing Edition vehicles starting next month.
