Launched as a near production concept car at this year's Frankfurt Motor show, the Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG Racing Series took a lot of people by surprise.
Technically, the model is the second customer racing car from AMG to hit the world's circuits after the highly-successful SLS AMG GT3 model.
Based on the street-legal Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG, the Racing Series' technical specification may vary according to the demands of the race rules in will participate in, with either the power output or the type of drivetrain being completely changeable.

Seen here in the flesh at the Essen Motor Show 2013, the CLA 45 AMG Racing Series looks like it can't wait to tear up a track in the nearby future, something which will most definitely happen from 2014 onwards.
