This year's week before the Frankfurt Auto Show seems to be filled with “well, that came out of nowhere” moments for Mercedes-Benz.

After yesterday we were telling you about Joachim Schmidt's odd departure after 34 years at the German company, not it's time to show you a concept car that has had a first batch of photos of it uploaded to the official Mercedes-Benz page.

The Daimler AG media site hasn't issued an official press release about the car yet and the only info we have of the car is from the photos themselves and the short description on the Facebook page, which says:

“Expanding the range of the CLA: take a first look at the CLA 45 AMG Racing Series concept car as well as the CLA 250 Sport, both premiering at the IAA. While the first provides a preview of a further customer sports racing car from Mercedes-AMG, latter sporty model of the CLA range might also be labelled "engineered by AMG". From the racetrack to everyday driving!”

In other words, the CLA 45 AMG will have its own cup racing series, with the concept here previewing how the models will look. We'll tell you more after the official press release arrives.
