A-Class W176 to Race in the BTCC from 2014

Even though Mercedes-Benz has just revealed the concept for a customer racing car based on the CLA, it seems that the smaller A-Class was seen as a better option by the Brits from Ciceley Racing to campaign in the BTCC next year.

They are currently competing in the British Touring Car Championship using a Toyota Avensis - despite being sponsored by a Mercedes-Benz Truck&Van dealership - with Ginetta GT Supercup Champion Adam Morgan at the wheel, but they'll apprently switch to a Mercedes-Benz A-Class W176 from next season.

“It's great to finally announce our plans for 2014, the switch made sense for us in many different ways. With Paul Ridgway at the helm of the project holding high aspirations and Adam continuing to mature as a driver, we think that the A-Class can be a competitive package in the series next year.” said Ciceley Racing Team Principal Russell Morgan.

The fun part is that the Toyota Avensis will obviously be sold at the end of the 2013 season, but the sale announcement was made right in the press release issued yesterday.
