Citroen Driver Training for Young Arsenal Players

British professional football clubs seem to be getting more and more involved in the road safety initiatives for children lately. After Kumho Tyres and Manchester United partnered to offer kids the ‘Play Safer’ road safety training programme, Arsenal has also put up a similar event.

With the help of Citroen, the official car supplier of the football club, Arsenal’s young reserve team players took part in an advanced driver-training programme, dubbed “How To Take Corners.”

“The players will spend a vast amount of time preparing for training and matches, and by working with Citroën we wanted to ensure that they make similar preparations when they get behind the wheel of a car”, explained Neil Banfield, Arsenal’s Reserve Team Coach.

“Spatial awareness is as crucial on the field of play as it is on the road and we have looked to transfer these skills to help their driving safety.”

Reserve team players therefore complete an Institute of Advanced Motorists Drive & Survive online risk assessment, e-learning course, attended a driver awareness seminar and took part in on-the-road driver training in the new Citroen DS3.

“As a club we invest a lot of time in to the education of our players. We can help shape these young players’ careers, and continuing their development off the pitch is equally important to us. We’re grateful for the time Citroën have spent getting behind this project and know the players will benefit,” Arsène Wenger said in a release.

Citroen DS3 range starts with the 1.4 16V VTi 95 hp in DSign trim which is priced at £11,700, while the most expensive DS3, 1.6 THP 150 hp in DSport trim, costs £18,775.
