After offering just a short preview a few days ago, French automaker Citroen has now released further details on the facelift version of its C4 Picasso and Grand C4 Picasso models. In addition to those minor visual changes, Intelligent Traction Control is now a standard feature on all engines mated to a manual gearbox, at no extra charges for the customer.

The system improves traction on snow- and ice-covered roads. “By pushing back the limits of traditional anti-skid systems, Intelligent Traction Control enables the vehicle to keep moving forward on slippery surfaces in most driving conditions. Intelligent Traction Control makes driving easier and safer,” a company statement reads.

The two MPVs are as well fitted with Grip Control, a new generation of the advanced anti-skid system, which controls and adjusts skidding of the driving wheels on snow- and ice-covered roads. Grip Control is incorporated into the ESP calculator. It manages skidding of the front driving wheels and has five operating modes. The driver selects the mode using the mode selector dial on the dashboard.

The Standard mode is for everyday on-road driving. It allows limited skidding of the driving wheels and behaves like a traditional ASR system. Next, the Snow mode is similar to Intelligent Traction Control feature. The All road mode is for muddy road surfaces, dirt roads and wet grass.

In Sand mode, the system allows the two driving wheels to skid slightly to the same extent, to enable the vehicle to drive as easily as possible and reduce the risk of getting stuck. Finally, the ESP off mode deactivates all the driving aids managed by the ESP calculator, namely the ESP and anti-skid systems.
