The French are not the baguette eating surrender monkeys we think they are. They are a bold, artistic bunch who have mastered tongue kissing, parkour and… Taxi movies. They also make some really cool and original cars… well, actually only Citroen does.
Think of the C5 and how it totally eclipses the VW Passat, not to mention the DS3 or the C4 Picasso. They are never shy in showing cool car design that we can geek over and probably never buy. Last week's biggest reveal one a brand new Citroen that we would actually buy, the C4 Cactus.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the C4 and is in fact based on the same platform as a supermini. An incredibly low weight of 965 kg makes this 4.16m long crossover lighter than a Skoda Fabia.

This completely original vehicle inspired many of the web's photoshop users, who ran wild with ides ranging from crazy to good. This is definitely our favorite so far, the most logical next step. A convertible in the same style as the C3 Pluriel or DS3 Cabrio is a core part of Citroen's identity and would work really well with the Cactus.

Doing a convertible this way, by keeping the roof pillars and doors intact, keeps most of the strength and lightness of the car. There hasn't been a really popular convertible little SUV like this one since the days of the first-gen RAV4.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
